The theme of this edition is efficiency, but in the real world, you have to keep optimization in mind as well. A bigger milking parlour, combine or conveyor is no doubt more efficient, but that piece of equipment may be oversized relative to the rest of your operation and, therefore, not cost-effective. You need the optimum size. The same goes for time efficiency. Multi-tasking can make more efficient use of your time, but at some point, you could jeopardize safety or quality. There’s a reason that texting on your cell phone while driving is banned in most jurisdictions. We’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Pass along your efficiency tips and we’ll share them with everyone in the future. |
