Gellatly Nut Farm
The Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park encourages appreciation and use of the park as a historical learning environment. To fulfil this role, careful maintenance of the horticultural integrity and viability of tree specimens is required. The Gellatly Nut Farm Society was awarded $9,500 from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund to construct a demonstration irrigation ditch and flume to demonstrate to locals and tourists that the old “tried and true” method of irrigation is still relevant and responsible today.

Columbia Valley Fire Department
The Columbia Valley Fire Department received $10,000 from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund toward the purchase of a thermal imaging camera that will allow its 25 volunteers to quickly locate victims in structure fires and motor vehicle accidents. It will also assist in locating hot spots during fire suppression and help find missing persons. The entire community and surrounding area will benefit.

The Land Conservancy
The Land Conservancy is a non-profit, charitable Land Trust operating throughout British Columbia. Its purpose is to protect habitat for natural communities and properties with agricultural, historical, cultural, scientific, scenic or recreational value. The Land Conservancy received $13,000 from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund to restore the Keating Farm's degraded riparian area to improve the farm's native biodiversity, provide support for the downstream restoration project of Koksilah Elementary School, increase the quality of life of the Glenora rural community and attract visitors to the farm.

The Comox Valley Exhibition Association Fall Fair
The FCC AgriSpirit Fund provided $5,000 to the Comox Valley Exhibition Association Fall Fair. The money will be used to lay cement pads in front of and behind the barn and to purchase tents to cover the pads, which will allow more room to house the Fair's animals. The fair brings agriculture, community and local businesses together to showcase, educate and celebrate the diversity in agriculture in the Comox Valley.

Grande Prairie Regional Agricultural and Exhibition Society
The Grande Prairie Regional Agricultural and Exhibition Society received $25,000 from Farm Credit Canada toward completion of the Evergreen Park Trade, Exhibition and Convention Centre. This building will accommodate a wide variety of events and conferences and will foster economic growth in the Peace Region, enhancing the quality of life of residents.

Lomond Community Multi-purpose Facility
The Lomond Community Multi-purpose Facility committee received $10,400 from Farm Credit Canada toward converting an old, unsafe gymnasium into a new multi-purpose facility that will be shared between the school and the community. It will be wheelchair accessible, house a fitness centre, and provide a safe place for school gym classes. It will host local sports tournaments, seminars, conferences and community events.

Milo Library
The Friends of Milo Library Society was awarded $11,000 from Farm Credit Canada toward construction of a new library. The existing library is housed in one room in the school and it has significantly outgrown that space. The new facility will be wheelchair accessible and have increased visibility and usage, since it's on Main Street and in close proximity to the Seniors Drop-In Centre.

Wetaskiwin Health Foundation
The Wetaskiwin Health Foundation received $12,000 from Farm Credit Canada to purchase cardiology equipment for the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre. Some 35,000 people, mainly rural residents, will benefit from the advanced cardiac equipment.

Bawlf Agricultural Association
The Bawlf Agricultural Association received $9,000 from Farm Credit Canada to help construct a new community centre for everyone in the area to enjoy. It will host weddings, reunions, arts and crafts classes, funeral luncheons, community dances and public meetings, plus provide meeting rooms for a host of community groups.

Clive and Area Cultural Historical Foundation
The Clive and Area Cultural Historical Foundation was awarded $5,000 from Farm Credit Canada toward constructing “Simple Ties Park” - a memorial to the Clive Railroad Station and a much-needed recreation site. It will be a multi-use, groomed park set within a network of trails and featuring a large multi-purpose gazebo. Community members and tourists alike will be able to enjoy this park.

Youngstown Community Club
The Youngstown Community Club is a group of volunteers who have built and maintained three buildings - the Youngstown Community Hall, a recreation centre and a rink. Over the years, these facilities have become the cornerstone of family recreation in the area. Now, the community hall needs to be modernized. The Youngstown Community Club received $10,800 from Farm Credit Canada to help with that task.

Dalum Fire Protection Association
The Dalum Fire Protection Association received $5,000 from Farm Credit Canada toward the purchase of an off-road, four-wheel drive truck capable of travelling through rough terrain and wet conditions in fields and yards, which are areas that are often inaccessible to larger vehicles. The purchase will help the volunteers better protect farms and acreages.

Kincaid Rural Fire Department
The Kincaid Rural Fire Department received $10,000 from Farm Credit Canada to help with construction of a $60,000 fire hall to increase the safety and security of local residents. The fire hall will have enough space for both the old and newer fire trucks used by volunteers to protect the rural municipalities of Pinto Creek, portions of Glenbain, the hamlet of Meyronne and the villages of Kincaid and Hazenmore.

Rosetown Parks and Recreation
Phase three of a new playground at the swimming pool park in Rosetown is one step closer to completion with a $10,000 FCC AgriSpirit Fund contribution. The new playground provides a safe play area for many families that visit the pool for swimming lessons from the town and from the surrounding community. All the funds have been raised through volunteer efforts. Volunteers have also installed the equipment.

Centennial Gardens Committee
The Centennial Gardens Committee received $6,500 from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund toward the completion of a community cenotaph and surrounding garden and recreation area in the village of Archerwill. The committee is a group of local volunteers committed to providing an outdoor facility where families and neighbours can gather as a community, where veterans can be recognized and where plant and seed growers can learn more about the unique varieties of vegetation in the area.

LeRoy Leisureland Regional Park
The regional park in LeRoy received $5,000 from Farm Credit Canada toward the costs of enhancing the park with a group camping area including a new summer kitchen and 10 electrified (30 amp) camping sites. The park is a way to attract visitors to the community of 450 people and to show off the benefits of small town Saskatchewan living -- time to relax and take part in local recreation at the pool, playground and golf course.

Wadena Elementary School
Fundraising efforts to create a wheelchair-accessible playground at the Wadena Elementary School have been enhanced by a $9,500 contribution from Farm Credit Canada. The original playground, built by the community in the early '80s, has been the focal point of the community for families, youth, tourists and people living in the surrounding area. Now, it needs replacing. In addition to acting as a gathering place, the playground encourages children to be physically active during and out of school. It also enhances the reputation of the community as an attractive place to live.

Leask Fire Department
The cost of building a new 2,400 square-foot fire hall in Leask is being partially offset by a $9,500 donation from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund. The fire hall houses the equipment to protect the village and rural municipality of Leask as well as the Mistawasis and Muskeg Lake First Nations and five recreation resorts. The volunteer fire department also provides emergency response for vehicle accidents requiring the Jaws of Life™ within 50 miles of Leask.

Loreburn Rink Board
The dressing rooms at the Loreburn artificial ice skating rink will be refurbished with the help of $2,000 from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund. The rink serves the communities of Loreburn, Elbow and Strongfield and is run largely through the efforts of volunteers. By updating the facility, Loreburn hopes to entice other groups to hold practices, games or camps, which will increase economic activity in the area.

Macklin and District Volunteer Fire Department
The Macklin and District Volunteer Fire Department received $9,500 from Farm Credit Canada toward the purchase of a new, upgraded rescue response vehicle to replace an existing unit. The vehicle is used in conjunction with the fire truck to carry volunteers and equipment to each emergency situation. The fire department serves the rural municipalities of Eye Hill, Heart's Hill and Seniac, as well as the town of Macklin and villages of Evesham, Senlac and Primate. The new unit will improve the quality of life by improving the speed, versatility and efficiency in responding to a wide range of emergencies in this active agriculture and oilfield area.

YouthBuild Saskatchewan (Craik)
YouthBuild Saskatchewan, the Craik Sustainable Living Project and the Town of Craik received $7,000 from Farm Credit Canada to buy building materials to construct an eco-friendly community centre for youth to be located on Main Street. The centre will offer a place for youth to visit and take part in healthy activities, a winter exercise area for seniors as well as space for workshops and training on sustainable development. YouthBuild Saskatchewan helps people between the ages of 16 and 30 build sustainable livelihoods by engaging them in working and building sustainable communities.

Briercrest and District Community Fire Department
The Briercrest and District Community Fire Department received $7,000 from Farm Credit Canada toward the construction of a new fire hall that will accommodate two fire trucks and the purchase of a second newer, larger fire truck. The fire department provides fire protection to approximately 400 people in the Village of Briercrest and the rural municipalities of Redburn and Baildon. The community hopes that strong fire protection services will be another factor in attracting new residents.

Vibank and District Volunteer Fire Department
Residents of Vibank and the surrounding area have $7,000 from Farm Credit Canada to put toward the purchase of a new fire truck. The current fire truck is a converted grain truck. While it adequately serviced the village, the truck is not safe to drive at higher speeds to rural areas. Almost 90 per cent of calls are to farm fires. The new vehicle would provide safe transportation to the 21 volunteer firefighters and help the community to continue its more than 40 years of fire protection.

Bibliothèque Allard Library
The Bibliothèque Allard Library is currently located in a local school, however enrolment has increased and the school needs the space to accommodate classes. A $10,000 contribution from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund will go towards building a vibrant, new library in the heart of the R.M. of Alexander.

Lundar School Playground
The Lundar Parent Advisory Committee received $5,000 from Farm Credit Canada toward a new play structure at the school. The current structure is obsolete and potentially unsafe. During the day, school children and kids from the local daycare will benefit from the new structure and after hours, the whole community will enjoy it.

Eriksdale Volunteer Fire Department
The Eriksdale Volunteer Fire Department received $5,000 from Farm Credit Canada toward the purchase of a 4,000 gallon tanker truck that will increase their ability to effectively fight fires in the rural municipality and surrounding farming communities. This group has been fundraising for five years, and they are excited about the prospect of making a purchase this year.

Elkhorn School Beautification Project
The Elkhorn School Advisory Council was awarded $7,000 from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund toward the beautification of the outside of the school. There is currently no landscaping in front of the school, and the advisory wants the outside of the school to reflect the pride and commitment to excellence that can be found indoors. There will be benches, shrubbery and a large sign to announce upcoming events in the school and community.

McAuley Fire Department Upgrade Project
The McAuley Volunteer Fire Department received $14,000 from Farm Credit Canada to upgrade existing equipment and purchase new lifesaving equipment and tools. The fire department will now be better equipped to deal with local fires and accidents, while residents in and around McAuley will enjoy increased confidence and peace of mind.

Leamington District Memorial Hospital Foundation
Patients in Leamington who need dialysis must travel about an hour away for treatment. To increase their quality of life and decrease the need for dependence on family and friends as drivers, Leamington Hospital will construct a new dialysis unit. Ten thousand dollars of the cost is being provided by the FCC AgriSpirit Fund. As one patient said of the project, “This is just like a cure.”

Taxandria Soccer Club
Taxandria Soccer Club was formed over 20 years ago to support a single team of 20 players. Today, the club has grown to over 500 participants ranging in age from three to 70. The club received $10,000 from Farm Credit Canada to add a clubhouse with change rooms, washrooms, equipment storage and a canteen onto the new soccer complex currently under development.

The Vittoria and District Foundation was created to help provide and maintain facilities and programs to enhance the quality of life of district residents. Dr. Russell M. Hall Family Health Centre
The Dr. Russell M. Hall Family Health Centre offers state-of-the-art health care services to residents in the Township of Norwich and surrounding area. Thanks to $7,000 from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund, the centre will be able to purchase computers and software to greatly enhance its electronic medical records system. These improvements in technology will lead to better and more timely health care for health centre patients.

Hickson Central Public School Outdoor Playground Committee
Parents of the 430 students at Hickson School are committed to building their children a playground. The school's playground equipment was removed due to maintenance issues four years ago, leaving the children with no play structure. The $7,000 received from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund will help with purchasing two climbers, tetherballs, basketball backboards and a kindergarten sandbox.

Orangeville Agricultural Society
The society holds a variety of high profile agricultural shows, including the Autumn Opportunity Holstein show and the Gencor Beef Challenge. These shows and others are now exceeding the society's barn capacity, and the society is at risk of losing these shows to larger venues. FCC is providing $10,000 in AgriSpirit funding to assist in building a new $25,000 barn, which will provide additional space for stalls. This new barn will continue to provide the area with an accessible, affordable venue for a variety of livestock shows.

Kinmount Agricultural Society
A major windstorm caused structural damage to the Kinmount Agricultural Society arena in 2006. The damage from the windstorm resulted in closure and demolition of the building. As the only covered skating rink in the community, the building was home to many sporting activities as well as the annual Kinmount Fair, bingos and dances. Ten thousand dollars from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund will assist the society in rebuilding the arena.

Port Perry Hospital Foundation
The Port Perry Hospital Foundation is raising funds to build a new endoscopy suite and to expand its emergency services area. FCC is providing $10,000 in AgriSpirit funding to assist in this expansion, which will help the centre provide earlier cancer diagnoses for patients and reduce wait times. The expansion will allow the hospital to introduce negative pressure segregation rooms, which will keep patients with potentially infectious diseases away from the general patient population.

HealthKick Huron
Huron's community classroom, called HealthKick, offers health-care training like practical nursing, personal support worker and pharmacy technician to residents of rural Ontario. FCC's $10,000 AgriSpirit contribution will assist HealthKick Huron in adding more computers, better printing and scanning equipment, and other technology-related equipment to the classroom. This investment in health-care education for rural residents will allow them to train and work in their communities.

Stratford General Hospital Foundation
The Stratford General Hospital Foundation launched its Heart and Soul Campaign to raise $20 million for construction and equipment for a new wing that will house the emergency department, medical imaging and a surgical services unit. Other hospital improvements will also be made. FCC is providing $10,000 in AgriSpirit funding, which will purchase an infant resuscitator for the hospital's maternity unit. The resuscitator will be used as a warmer and save the lives of infants who require resuscitation efforts after delivery.

>Mildmay Doctor Recruitment and Retention Committee
The Village of Mildmay and Municipality of South Bruce have been without a doctor for three years, leaving 3,000 people in the area without primary health-care services. A family health team has been established, which now includes a full-time physician, and the community plans to build a clinic to house the health care team. An FCC AgriSpirit Fund contribution of $5,000 will assist in paying for the design and engineering costs of the clinic.

Cargill and District Community Fund
The Cargill Community Centre is home to many events and activities for Cargill and several neighbouring municipalities. The centre's kitchen is an important asset of the centre, which is used for weddings, ball tournaments, Girl Guide camp and other events. A $5,000 contribution from FCC's AgriSpirit Fund will assist in the expansion construction costs and the purchase of kitchen equipment.

Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre
With a mission to be unforgettable, the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre prides itself on educating and promoting the depth and diversity of the area's heritage. The centre plans to introduce a new display called Hands upon the Plough, a touring exhibit about farmers and farming in Bruce County. A $5,000 contribution from FCC's AgriSpirit Fund will be used to create the exhibit, which includes photo reproduction, photo mounting and display development.

Friends of the South Mountain Library
South Mountain Library, established 102 years ago, is located in a one-room schoolhouse and needs serious upgrading to combat problems including mould, an inadequate water supply and wheelchair access. A new South Mountain Community Resource Centre will be built to replace the schoolhouse and will include a library. FCC is providing $10,000 in AgriSpirit funding to assist in building the community resource centre, which will benefit residents in at least eight area farming communities.

Armour, Ryerson and Burk's Falls Memorial Arena/Community Centre
The Armour, Ryerson and Burk's Falls Memorial Arena is used by more than 32,000 people annually as a meeting place for community groups, arena for family skating activities, recreational events for schools, curling groups, scouts, guides and cadets. The arena and community centre are in serious need of upgrading. FCC's support through a $10,000 AgriSpirit Fund contribution will help pay for renovations to the arena and community centre and will allow the centre to continue to be a vital part of three municipalities.

Loisirs Cookshire Inc.
Loisirs Cookshire Inc., located in Cookshire-Eaton, is renovating the Guy-Veilleux community hall reception area to build a physical fitness centre. This will be the only fitness centre in the community and will serve the surrounding communities of Cookshire, Sawyerville, Island Brook, La Patrie, Saint-Isidore, Randboro, East Angus, Birchton and Bulwer. The $11,000 awarded from Farm Credit Canada will go toward the renovations.

Comité des loisirs (municipality de Saint-Cléopas-de-Brandon)
The Comité des loisirs (recreation committee) is active in the municipality of Saint-Cléophas-de-Brandon. The $6,000 awarded from Farm Credit Canada will go to building a special 333 square-metre play area with play structures for young children. This project will be a welcome addition not only for residents of the municipality, but also for those from neighbouring municipalities, given that there is no school in the area.

Loisirs Saint-François-du-Lac Inc.
The Loisirs Saint-François-du-Lac Inc., located in Saint-François-du-Lac, will use the $6,000 awarded from Farm Credit Canada to build a modular play structure for children ages four to 12, as this municipality has no such structure. The goal is to attract young families with children to the region.

Défi Jeunesse Québec Inc. - Moissonneurs solidaires project
Défi Jeunesse Québec Inc. is a drug treatment and training centre that provides rehabilitation services to people with drug and alcohol dependencies. Défi Jeunesse Québec Inc. will use a $13,000 contribution from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund to purchase market garden equipment for its Moissonneurs solidaires project. The project involves renovating and expanding an existing building to turn it into a market garden building, and building an addition for the reception area, packaging, preparation for warehouse storage and distribution of vegetables.

Centre des Loisirs de Sainte-Louise Inc.
The Centre des Loisirs de Sainte-Louise Inc., located in Sainte-Louise, is the only public place in the community where young people can get together. It is in desperate need of repairs, including painting, finishing, renovations to the exterior patio, and renovations to the basement. A $9,000 contribution from Farm Credit Canada will help expand the outdoor gallery and replace the basement roof. The centre will also be used for various festivals, such as the annual Père Zim festival, honoring maple syrup producers and attracting customers from the RMC of L'Islet and Kamouraska.

Corporation de développement de Saint-Modeste
The Corporation de développement de Saint-Modeste, located in the municipality of Saint-Modeste, is putting a $9,000 contribution from Farm Credit Canada toward its project, "Ma cour, mon école" (my yard, my school). It will be used to update the community's elementary school playground, including play structures, basketball court, soccer field and a green zone. It will help keep the community attractive for young families and provide a beneficial recreation area for children.

École Henri-Bachand
The École Henri-Bachand is located in Saint-Liboire and is a preschool and elementary school facility. A $15,000 contribution from Farm Credit Canada will be used to purchase a new play structure and materials to bring the playground up to current safety standards. The Loisirs de Saint-Liboire needs additional playground area for soccer teams. It will be used by children in Saint-Liboire and in the surrounding rural area.

Trinity Historical Society Inc.
The Trinity Historical Society received a $5,000 contribution from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund toward the construction of a cooperage. This project will provide a living history for one and all to learn about the dying trade of barrel making. It will be site where families can gather and learn about their heritage and the artisan trades.

La Scie Sports and Country Club
The La Scie Sports and Country Club received a $5,000 contribution from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund to improve its sport and recreation facilities. The whole peninsula will benefit by providing a multi-sport all season facility to encourage physical fitness within the area.

Greenfield Community Resource Centre Society
The Greenfield Community Resource Centre received $20,000 from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund to build a new multi-purpose resource centre. The centre will house an elementary school, public library and provide community access to the Internet and a multi-media community room. This facility is an integral part of a larger strategic plan to retain and attract young families to the area.
